Where You Will Live

This project is economically viable partly because the Institute will eschew the conventional, multi-million pound design-and-build university buildings which are expensive to build, maintain and operate. Rather what is envisaged is a series of backwoods eco-lodges. Students won't have a great deal of space but they will however be very comfortable and warm. There will be larger eco-cabins capable of seating 50 people which will combine the functions of seminar room, cafeteria, library and computer room. Facilities will be basic but everything that you would expect from a reasonable motel (warmth, hot water, shower etc.). There may be a TV but students won't have the time or inclination to watch it. Furnishings will all be recycled or second-hand.

We aim for shed-chic: nothing will match, but nothing will be out of place.
