Woodland
Management
A series of short courses in aspects of woodland management will be
combined with a year-round programme of on-site maintenance. By the end
of the year, students focusing their ancillary activities in this area
will be able to identify all of the trees common to the British landscape
and have a reasonable grasp of basic arboreal ecology. Awareness of the
main UK woodland types will be combined with a practical knowledge of
the principal management issues for small woodlands. Students will also
have an understanding of the main regulatory frameworks and subsidies
that are available for the sustainable development of small woodlands.
As appropriate the Institute will also seek to establish day-release
industry internships.
